Encased in a handmade terracotta clay pot, Aker Fassi has been used for centuries in Morocco to tint the lips and cheeks. It is made of only two natural plant powders: poppy flower powder and pomegranate bark powder. The color is buildable and can last for several hours before fading.

Please note that due to the handmade nature of this product, there can be slight variations in size and shape. Each pot contains about 2-3 layers of natural pigment.

Please note that the color may look different depending on your skin tone. You may need to apply less or more to achieve the tint that best suits your skin tone.

The clay pot is made by hand by Hasan in Agadir, and we paint the Aker Fassi into each one ourselves, layer by layer. See how it's made.

Wet a lip brush or cotton swab in oil or water and gently rub it on the inside of the terracotta pot. Apply to your lips and your cheeks, blending as needed. Do not use your fingers, as the product will stain the skin. Moisturize your lips as needed.

Punica Granatum (Pomegranate) Bark Extract, Papaver Rhoeas (Poppy) Flower Powder, Sucrose (used to help the pigment adhere to the clay pot).

Again, I love that all of their products are natural/organic. The Aker Fassi provides a beautiful color for the lips and cheeks! It lasts on my cheeks all day, even in the hot sun. I have yet to to try methods to get it to stay on my lips all day, but the color is lovely, and I believe it would complement all skin tones. A little goes a long way!

How do you use the Aker Fassi clay pot?

Dampen a lip brush or cotton swab with a little water or light oil and rub it inside the terracotta pot to pick up the pigment. Apply to your lips and cheeks and blend. Water gives a deeper red and oil gives a softer tint. Avoid spraying the whole pot or using your fingers, since the stain will tint your skin and you waste pigment.

How long does Aker Fassi last on the lips?

Usually around 4 to 6 hours on the lips, and often longer on the cheeks. It is buildable, so more thin layers give a deeper, longer-lasting stain. Let it set for a moment before your lips touch anything, and a swipe of lip balm on top helps it last and keeps lips comfortable.

Will Aker Fassi show up on my skin tone? Can I get a pinker color?

Aker Fassi shows up on every skin tone, it just shows differently. Use less for a soft pink and build layers for a bold red. On deeper skin tones you may want a few more layers on the cheeks, and on the lips, applying over a little oil or balm helps sheer it out if it looks too intense.

What is Aker Fassi made of, and is it lead-free?

Just two plant powders: poppy flower (Papaver rhoeas, the red field poppy, not the kind linked to drugs) and pomegranate bark, plus a little sugar to help the pigment stick to the clay. Our Aker Fassi powder is lab certified lead-free. If you have a poppy allergy, Aker Fassi is not for you.

How long does one clay pot last?

Each handmade pot holds about 2 to 3 layers of pigment, and since you only need a tiny amount, many people get months out of one. It cannot be refilled with loose powder because the pigment is set onto the clay in a special way. When it is finished, keep the pot as decor or toss it, since terracotta is eco-friendly.

Wow, where do I start... I love this Kohl so much and I wouldn't change anything about it! A year ago, I was in Jordan and bought an $8 kajal/ithmud in Petra, and it was made in India with a plastic applicator. It was fine to use for some time, but I realized whenever I got it under my eyes, it was very smudgy and stubborn to remove. Skalli Essentials kohl comes with a PERFECT natural applicator, and the black powder itself is very easy to remove and wipe away. At the same time, I don't know how it's possible, but I can also do perfect winged eyeliner with this without adding water! It lasts all day, even when I'm hot outside. I don't notice the product getting in my eyes, but if it does, I can't feel it at all because it doesn't burn. Follow the directions, and you'll get the hang of application. The only thing I'd say is that a bit of black powder comes out when you first open it, and each time the container is opened, a tiny bit comes out. It's really not bad though, just do it over the sink or any easy-to-clean surface. The results are amazing, long-lasting, and really do make my eyes pop, all with natural and organic ingredients(:
