Our Moroccan Roots
Hi, I'm Mariam. My grandmother taught me these rituals in her hammam every summer. I became a chemical engineer to make sure they reach you the way she gave them to me.
What Skalli Means
Skalli is my family name, but it also comes from the Arabic root for "to polish," to work a surface until its true finish shows. It's what our products do for your skin, and what I do to every one of them before it reaches you.
Summers in Morocco
How It Started
I'm a Moroccan woman who grew up in America, and every summer I went home to my grandmother in Morocco. She'd take me to the hammam and scrub the whole week off my back while I complained. I still remember the smell of eucalyptus, verbena, and olive oil when I think of her.

Back in America
What I Couldn't Find
The Argan Oil sold here was cheap, scentless, and nothing like the one in Morocco. So I brought skincare home from Morocco in my suitcase, and even that fooled me sometimes like fake essential oils and Aker Fassi with glitter in it. The real thing was hard to find there, and almost impossible here.

Heritage Meets Chemistry
Why an Engineer
My husband Adam kept telling me to sell what I loved, so we started with Argan Oil and Prickly Pear Seed Oil on a folding table at a college event. Then I became a chemical engineer, spent years in a cosmetics lab, and learned to read labels the way most brands hope you won't. I used my background to combine my love for natural ingredients with modern skincare science.

Most "Moroccan" beauty products have never been to Morocco.
I've spent years reading other brands' labels and testing their products. This is what I keep finding.
- A Moroccan name on a brand with no ties to Morocco.
- "Argan Oil of Morocco" on the bottle, Argan Oil fifth on the ingredient list.
- "All natural" on the front, synthetic dye inside, no full ingredient list anywhere.
- "Lead-free" Kohl and Aker Fassi powder that tested positive for heavy metals when I ran them.
- Argan Oil diluted with cheaper oils. Prickly Pear Seed Oil extracted with chemical solvents like hexane.
None of that is here. If it's from us, I know who made it and I've read every ingredient.

Where It Comes From
Everything starts in Morocco with people I know by name. The women outside Agadir who crack Argan kernels by hand. Hasan and his son Mohamed, who shape and carve our M'hekkas. We've sat with them, shared meals, and we go back every year. Come meet them.
